RF Skin Needling

Radiofrequency needling combines two modalities, micro-needling and radiofrequency energy to renew the skin promote new collagen & elastin and reduce the signs and appearance of ageing.

Radiofrequency needling can help to:

  • Tighten & tone the skin
  • Improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enhance skin elasticity
  • Densify thinning skin
  • Improve the appearance of scarring
  • Reduce pore size
  • Create a more vibrant energized skin
  • Improve radiance & skins hydration levels

Skin Needling and Radio Frequency are both well established treatments in their own right and are normally performed individually to deliver their specific treatment outcomes. However with the development of technology that allows these two leading technologies to be combined the treatment outcomes are doubled if not tripled.

Skin Needling

By using Skin Needling to create a mechanical micro trauma to the skins epidermis and dermis we are triggering a natural process in the skin which is controlled wound healing: We are forcing the skin to throw up all of its wound healing substances such as collagen & elastin and to regrow connective tissue. This is a normal physiological function of the skin in response to any form of wound.

We are asking the skin to release epidermal growth factors for repair, then the skin lays down new collagen & elastin fibres to strengthen the skin and finally the new collagen & elastin matures into structural and supportive collagen resulting in firmer and more youthful skin.

Radio Frequency

Radiofrequency energy is used to generate heat / warmth in the dermis where new collagen & elastin is birthed. This heat / warmth forces the cells to produce new collagen & elastin as the cells see this heat as a trauma and sets about trying to heal it with all of these skin repair and building substances (collagen & elastin) – we call this a thermal micro trauma.

Why This Treatment is So Popular for Skin Tightening

Radiofrequency needling is designed to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin to provide a superior result. Some of the benefits of the treatment include:

  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Minimal downtime needed
  • Visibly improves the appearance of the skin
  • Reduces skin textural imperfections
  • Smooths & firms skin
  • Is effective for acne scars, wrinkles & fine lines
  • Tightens & firms loose & sagging skin
  • Treats open pores
  • Safe for all skin types

The thermal trauma being radio frequency not only forces the skin to produce new collagen & elastin but also has the added benefit of causing your existing collagen & elastin fibres to shrink and tighten immediately.

Radiofrequency Needling is Particularly Suited to the Treatment of Olive or Darker Skin Types:

Fitzpatrick 3 to 5. Many treatments are not suitable to these skin types as they pose a risk for hyperpigmentation. With RF Needling there is a much-reduced risk of causing hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation post treatment, as the energy is delivered deep within the skin and not topically

Although with any assessment and high-tech skin treatment or program if you are not using the correct homecare as preparation and maintenance then we would suggest you are wasting your money.

At Atone Skin our motto is “homecare always comes first.” Minimum of 4 weeks prior to any high-tech treatment you need to be on Vitamin A / Vitamin C / Vitamin B + SPF + good hydrating ingredients. Without this you are compromising your results and only getting a portion of the result you could achieve with an effective homecare routine.

RF Needling for Treatment of Acne Scarring in Darker Skin Types

Micro needling with RF is ideal for treating acne scars for those with olive or darker skin types, as it does not carry a significant risk of pigmentation changes post-treatment.

The radiofrequency energy bypasses the superficial layers of the skin by being delivered to only the tips of the insulated needles. Therefore, the risk of injury to the superficial epidermis (top layers of the skin) is greatly reduced, also shortening your recovery time.
